Overview

Beaver With U aims at establishing a youth community to hone essential life skills to better prepare Asian youth for future education, employment and career development. Sharing valuable volunteer opportunities is the first step; like Holly said, "sometimes, helping others is helping yourself," This is where Beaver With U started its journey, helping and being there for Asian youth.

In the past 5 years, Beaver With U has shared 206 opportunities from 97 organizations and benefited 17,310 people all around Canada.

Program Assistant

August 2022

To assist residents/clients to attend and participate in programs and activities, providing support to staff and residents/clients during programs.

​

  • Time: Shifts up to 4 hours in length, Monday through Sunday (no later than 8 pm)

  • Location: Copernicus Lodge, Toronto

​

Responsibilities:

  • Report to shift on time and ready

  • Follow instructions provided by staff - Be mindful of role limitations and safety

  • Provide assistance with scheduled programs to group with variety of abilities and skills to promote wellbeing and resilience

  • Interact with residents/clients and caregivers in a positive manner

  • Assist Activation team with set up of programs and portering of residents to and from the program

  • Report any concerns or incidents to a clinical team member immediately

  • Act as an ambassador for Copernicus Lodge and the community that is served

  • Adhere to all Infection, Prevention and control and any other requirements as identified by members of staff (e.g. wearing appropriate PPE)

  • Understand and respect the Resident's Bill of Rights - Bring forward any new ideas or suggestions

Event Assistance and Planning

August 2022

We are looking for hardworking volunteers to help us set up our Buskerfest Event which is all in support of people living with epilepsy.

​

  • Time:  August 30th, 12 - 5pm​

August 31st, 9am - 1pm, 1 - 4pm

September 1st, 9am - 2pm, 2 - 7pm

Responsibilities:

  • Putting together fencing

  • Organizing stations

  • Sorting materials

  • Putting up tents

  • Decorating tents

Requirements:

  • Able to move around a lot on your feet

  • Able to do heavy lifting

  • Take initiative

In-Person Church at the Mission Services

July 2022

Our Yonge Street Mission, Church at the Mission (CATM) is seeking "In-Person Church at the Mission Services" volunteers to screen and usher people into our church each Sunday!

​

  • Time & Location:  Gerrard St. East & ParliamentSundays 2:30 PM - 5 PM (2.5 hours)

Responsibilities:

  • Screening Incoming People: Sitting down at a computer, using online Google forms on a computer, screening people for Covid symptoms

  • Ushering Incoming People: Ushering people down to the gym by elevator or downstairs and to the gym (must be able to go up and down stairs and stand for a period of 2 hours)

  • Extend acceptance and friendship to all community members at all times

  • Listen to and socialize with community members in a dignifying way

Reading Leader

July 2022

Parliament Leading To Reading Help a child (grades 1 to 6) experiencing reading and/or homework difficulties.

​

  • Time & Location:  Parliament Street Library, 1 hour per week, Saturdays at 9:30, 10:30, 11:30, 1:45 and 2:45

Responsibilities:

  • Encourage reading and learning

  • Engage in a variety of learning-related activities

  • Occasionally help with homework - keep a logbook of the child's progress

  • Act as a mature reading/learning role model

Social Media Ambassador

June 2022

Virtual Teach&Learn is an online teaching non-profit organization. We are looking for social media ambassadors to expand our reach and help more people.

​

  • Time & Location:  Online, Free schedule

Responsibilities:

  • Share our Facebook or Twitter posts at least weekly

​

Requirements:

  • Dedicated, responsible, hard-working, creative people

  • Passionate about helping other young people and sharing their ideas

  • Ability to work well in a team

School Representative

August 2022

You will become the representative of Beaver With U , leading initiatives and sharing resources such as articles and activities.

​

Digital Ambassador

August 2022

The Barbra Schlifer Commemorative Clinic is seeking volunteers interested in joining our team of remote Digital Ambassadors to support our Giving Tuesday fundraising campaign and help more people learn about the Clinic’s work.

​

  • Time:  2022-11-01 Remote Digital

Responsibilities:

  • As a digital ambassador, you will be provided with all the assets and support you need to spread the word about the Clinic to your network and raise donations for our Giving Tuesday 2022 peer-to-peer fundraiser in November.

Education Bank Assistant

The Education Bank supports families from across the GTA (Greater Toronto Area) by providing urgently needed learning resources and school materials.

  • Build kits and packages that the kids will be able to use at home

Peer Mentor

July 2022

Youth Assisting Youth is a non-for-profit organization that gives youth an opportunity to volunteer in their community. 

​

  • Time & Location:  York region, north York, Scarborough, and downtown Toronto, 3 hours per week​

​

Responsibilities:

  • Be a Role Model

  • Engage in social and/or academic activities

​

Requirements:

  • Age 16-29

Zoo Volunteers

June 2022

Thousands of animals are cared for at the Toronto Wildlife Centre each year, and significant resources are used to maintain the upkeep of the facility and to ensure that supplies are clean and readily available for the wildlife rehabilitation team.

  • Time & Location:  60 Carl Hall Rd Unit 4, North York, At least one 4-hour shift per week

Responsibilities:

  • Help keep the wildlife kitchen, hallways, hospital and rehabilitation rooms clean.

  • Fold and organize clean clothing for animal use

  • Wash and disinfect animals' cages, and other housing supplies

  • Ensure proper cage and supply arrangements are in place
