About Us

Our Story:

Why am I here? What am I doing here? Why am I so far away from my friends and my families? For what purpose exactly? All this unhappiness, to study?” It was a heart-to-heart conversation between our founder-Holly and a 17 years old high school student. Oliver was in his last year of high school; with all the pressures, he came to the point of doubting and questioning himself, hoping to find an answer.

Holly understood the feelings of Oliver since she was in his shoes, experiencing similar struggling time to survive alone in this foreign country. It is not only the language barriers and culture shock, but also the tough transition period to be a real adult that newcomer youth need to face and overcome. There are so many Asian youth like Oliver who need guidance and valuable resources to prepare them for the journey. Sharing valuable volunteer opportunities is the first step; like Holly said, "sometimes, helping others is helping yourself," This is where Beaver With U started its journey, helping and being there for Asian youth.

Mission:

To support Asian newcomer youth during this pivotal transition through the provision of programs, services and networking opportunities through three major areas of growth and development:
•    as they navigate the Canadian education and post secondary systems;
•    as they integrate into their new home in Canada and their new local  community; and
•    as they transition into work life and become successful members of Canadian Society.

Vision:

We see a future where Asian newcomer youth succeed in their educational pursuits and are transitioning into adult life with strong employment opportunities, a deep sense of Canadian culture, values and have barrier free access to the supports required to fully integrate into life in Canada.
